Tartu Veeriku School has a tradition for the students who learn in extensive English groups. Every year the teachers organise a one-week trip to England, Kent, Broadstairs. In Kent’s School of English the students can live and study for one week.
Kent School of English has students from different countries like Estonia, France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Spain. They accommodate the students with the local families and teach them in groups for the week. The groups are made up of students who are at the same language level.
The week usually starts with getting to know the town of Broadstairs. The students get to see the town and find important landmarks on their own. They move independently for the entire week that they are there.
Every day starts with school from 8:30-12:45. After that the students have one afternoon activity after lunch. It can be a coastal walk, bowling, sports games or a town tour. After that they can go to their local home and have dinner with the family. After dinner, usually at 19:00 the students have an evening activity. The different activities can be cinema, karaoke, disco, barn dancing. Every group also has one day in London and a trip to Canterbury. The students are taken to these places by bus.
The students can find many new international friends and practise their English. At the end, each student gets a spoken language certificate with the level that they are at (B1,B2, C1). Estonian students are usually the youngest. It is a great experience for everybody.
